CHHS Defeats Carroll

Harrison Reeves' complete game effort on the mound led the Trojans to a 9-4 victory over area foe Carroll. Reeves was credited with his fourth win of the season and second in area play by striking out one and allowing three earned. After allowing one run in the first, the Trojans struck for three runs in the third. Tripp Blackmon hit a triple and was driven in by Jalin Lawson. Later in the inning Joey Denison drove in courtesy runner Michael Thomas, then Denison scored on a wild pitch. The score remained 3-1 until the fifth when the CHHS bats erupted for five runs. Gregory Barnette's two run double and Michael Fox's two RBI single were the big hits in the inning. Blackmon added an insurance run in the seventh by driving in Fox with a single.

CHHS returns to action Friday at home in a doubleheader against Carroll.

Lawson's Career Day Powers Trojans to Split

Junior Jalin Lawson finished the day 8-8 with three homeruns, four doubles, and a single while driving in 12 runs to lead CHHS to a split over area foe Eufaula. The Trojans dropped game one by a score of 18-17. Houston Mabray took the loss after working 3 2/3 in relief. Lawson hit three homeruns and drove in eight. Michael Fox was 3-4 with a three run homerun. Joey Denison was 3-4 with a sac fly and four RBI. Chase Smartt was 3-5 and both Tripp Blackmon and Chase Connell added two hits.

CHHS bounced back to win game two by a final of 14-5. Blake Hutchinson was credited with the win after working 5 1/3 and striking out five. Lawson remained perfect with three doubles and a single while scoreing three and driving in four. Connell was 3-4 with two RBI and Smartt added two doubles. Tyler Dansby hit his first career homerun and finished 2-4 with three runs.

Reeves Lifts Trojans to Area Win

Senior Harrison Reeves' complete game, five strikeout performance on the mound led the way as the number seven-ranked Trojans defeated Eufaula 10-8 in eight innings in the 5A, Area 3 opener. He allowed only two earned runs while walking one. At the plate Tripp Blackmon, Chase Connell, and Joey Denison all collected three hits each.

CHHS got on the board in the first when Connell's single drove in Blackmon and Jalin Lawson. Courtesy runner Michael Thomas stole home as part of a double steal attempt to give the Trojans a 3-0 lead after the top of the first. After Eufaula answered with two runs in the bottom of the first, Michael Fox lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Tyler Dansby to increase the lead to 4-2. In the fourth inning Blackmon drove in Dansby and Fox with a single to push the lead to 6-2. CHHS would not score again until the eighth inning. A leadoff walk by Fox was followed by a sacrifice bunt by Blackmon. Then Lawson, Connell, Gregory Barnette, and Denison each followed with RBI hits to bring the margin to 10-6. After allowing two runs in the bottom of the eighth Reeves induced a line drive to the shortstop Lawson to finish the game.

Area play continues Saturday as Eufaula travels to Troy for a doubleheader beginning at noon.

CHHS Wins Two on the Road

The Charles Henderson Trojans, currently ranked #7 in 5A in the state of Alabama, defeated Montgomery Catholic and Dallas County in Dallas County Friday night. In game one the Trojans took down Montgomery Catholic by a final of 18-0. Winning pitcher Blake Hutchinson went the distance striking out eight. At the plate Chase Connell was 4-4 and drove in three. Gregory Barnette was 2-3 with two RBI while Chase Smartt finished a homerun shy of the cycle and drove in three. Tyler Dansby finished a perfect 2-2 with two RBI.

In game two CHHS was victorious by a 12-5 count. Starter Houston Mabray worked four innings and struck out four to earn the win. He gave way to Tripp Blackmon who worked three scoreless innings for his first save of the season. Connell was 2-2 with two sacrifice flies, finishing the day a perfect 6-6. Jalin Lawson was 2-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases.

The Trojans begin area play Friday at Eufaula. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Trojans Split Doubleheader

The Trojans continued play in the Southeast Alabama Invitational on Tuesday and split a doubleheader with Houston County and host team G.W. Long. In the opener against Houston County the Trojans won by a 21-1 margin. Austin Adler and Tripp Blackmon each his their first career homeruns and Tyler Dansby was 2-2 with two RBI. Brantley LeCroy got the win on the mound striking out three and surrendering only one hit.

In game two G.W. Long defeated the Trojans 5-3. Harrison Reeves took the loss despite striking out eight over six innings. Jalin Lawson was 2-3 with a run scored. Joey Denison had a hit and scored a run while Michael Fox added a single and RBI. Tyler Dansby doubled and Dalton Harris drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Slocomb Defeats CHHS

The Trojans dropped a 5-1 decision to Slocomb Monday night in the opening day of the Southeast Alabama Invitational Tournament in Skipperville. Auburn signee Clay Holmes struck out eleven CHHS batters in his winning effort. Tripp Blackmon took the loss working 4 2/3 and allowed four earned runs. Michael Fox relieved Blackmon in the 5th and did not allow a hit while striking out two. Joey Denison drove in the Trojan run and Michael Fox added a single and stolen base. Jalin Lawson stole a base and scored a run.

CHHS continues play in the SEAI Tuesday against Houston County and G.W. Long.

Thompson Takes Two from Trojans

Thompson High School in Birmingham swept CHHS in a doubleheader Saturday by scores of 5-1 and 5-0. In the opener Houston Mabray went 6 innings and struck out five while taking the loss. Jalin Lawson was 2-3 while stealing a base and scoring a run. Chase Connell was 1-1 with two walks and an RBI while Joey Denison added a hit. In game two Blake Hutchinson worked 3 1/3 and struck out two. Harrison Reeves allowed only one hit in relief and did not give up an earned run.

The Trojans begin play in the Southeast Alabama Invitational Tournament Monday at G.W. Long against Slocomb at 5:00.

Trojans Sweep Home Doubleheader

Charles Henderson swept a doubleheader Tuesday over Brantley by scores of 10-0 and 12-1. In the opener Tripp Blackmon turned in a strong performance on the mound allowing only one hit and striking out six. Dalton Harris' two RBI single in the second got the Trojans out to a 2-0 lead. It was extended in the third inning when Joey Denison drive in two with a single and was followed with RBI hits from Michael Fox and Chase Smartt. Chase Connell's grand slam in the fourth inning finished the scoring for CHHS.

In game two Jalin Lawson finished 4-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Fox and Connell each added two hits. Harrison Reeves earned his second victory of the season working four innings and striking out four. Brantley LeCroy pitched a scoreless fifth inning striking out two to close out the game.

The wins improved the Trojans' record to 6-3 on the year.

CHHS Loses to Trinity

The Trojans were defeated Monday night by Trinity by a final score of 7-3 in a game played in Riverwalk Stadium, home of the Montgomery Biscuits. Blake Hutchinson took the loss for the Trojans after 3 1/3 innings of work and allowing no earned runs. Houston Mabray finished the game in relief and allowed one earned run. CHHS sprinted out to a 2-0 inning in the first with an RBI single by Jalin Lawson and sacrifice fly by Chase Connell. The third run came in the third inning when Tripp Blackmon drove in Gregory Barnette with a single. Blackmon finished 2-3 while Michael Fox and Dalton Harris both added hits.

CHHS plays Brantley Tuesday in a doubleheader at home beginning at 4:00.

Trojans Drop Game to ACA

CHHS suffered it's second defeat of the season Friday at Faulkner University falling to Alabama Christian Academy 4-3. Harrison Reeves went six strong innings on the mound without allowing an earned run. The Trojans got out to a 3-0 lead with a Chase Connell solo home run, Joey Denison sac fly, and ACA error. ACA battled back to score one run in the sixth and three in the seventh.

CHHS returns to action Saturday with games against St. James and Brew Tech.
