Trojans Split with Stanhope-Elmore

CHHS dropped game one to Stanhope-Elmore by a score of 7-5 before bouncing back to win the nightcap by the same score. Houston Mabray took the loss in game one, working 4 1/3 innings and striking out two while allowing one earned run. Michael Fox and Jalin Lawson both homered; Fox with a solo shot in the third inning and Lawson with a two run blast in the sixth. Fox finished 3-4 with two RBI, Lawson was 2-4 with two RBI. Michael Thomas, Joey Denison, Greg Barnette, Chase Smartt, and Tripp Blackmon each added singles.

The Trojans rebounded in game two winning 7-5. Tripp Blackmon was credited with his second victory of the year after working six innings and striking out three. CHHS took a lead they would not relinquish in the bottom of the sixth with a four run inning. Luke Hastings reached on an error and was followed by an Austin Adler double that made the score 5-4. Fox followed with an RBI single to tie the game at 5. Two batters later Joey Denison hit a double that scored Fox and Lawson. Fox was 2-4 with a triple and three RBI.

The Trojans return to action in the Terry Sikes Memorial Tournament at CHHS on Thursday. Their first opponent is Dora at 6:00.

JV Wins at home

JV won both games tonight against Opp with 3-0 and 6-3 final scores. Good job Trojans!!

JV takes Second Place in Andalusia Tournament

Saturday's games started with a win against Enterprise 7-4. The championship game resulted in a loss to Northview 5-4.

JV :February 24

The JV will play Enterprise today, Saturday February 25th at 2 pm in the Andalusia tournament. The team will depart CHHS at 11:30 this morning. 
Friday they lost 0-7 to Northview in game one and then beat Zion Chapel 15-5 in game two.

Trojans Drop Game at Enterprise

CHHS suffered its first loss of the season Thursday at Enterprise, losing by a score of 10-0. Luke Hastings started on the mound for the Trojans and worked four innings striking out one. Michael Fox, Greg Barnette, Austin Adler, and Hastings each had hits. CHHS returns to action Friday in the 2012 home opener against Dothan at 5:00.

Thomas' Late Inning Heroics Spark Trojan Sweep

Michael Thomas' bases loaded, two out triple in the bottom of the seventh made the Trojans' first win of 2012 a memorable one, defeating G.W. Long 6-5 in walk-off fashion. Down 5-3 and with only one out remaining, Thomas laced a ball down the right field line scoring Tripp Blackmon from third base, Jalin Lawson from second base, and winning run Joey Denison from first base. Michael Fox finished 2-4 with two runs scored and a double, Denison was 2-3 with an RBI and run scored.

Houston Mabray and Fox put in great work on the mound to keep CHHS close. Mabray got the start and worked four innings striking out three. Fox was credited with the win after working three innings and striking out six.

Charles Henderson finished the sweep by defeating Jackson 11-0. Blackmon got the win by working a complete game and striking out six. Denison was 2-2 in the nightcap and scored two runs, Luke Hastings was 1-1 with three RBI and a double. Gregory Barnette finished 1-3 with two RBI and a straight steal of home plate in the second inning. Chase Smartt and Jalin Lawson each added hits.

The Trojans will return to action Thursday at Enterprise.

Workday Rescheduled

We are postponing the workday planned for Saturday 2/18/12 due to the forecasted rain. The Varsity and JV will practice as scheduled but will move indoors if the weather dictates. If you would be able to help out for an hour or so either Sunday 2/19/12 or Monday afternoon 2/20/12 please let Coach Irons know by          e-mail ironsd@troyschools.net . We have several banners that need to be put up and some other tasks to accomplish as well.


First home game is this Tuesday, February 21- JV will be hosting Andalusia in a double header at 5 pm.

Lawson Wins Wiregrass Homerun Derby

Trojan Senior Jalin Lawson came out on top of the field of 37 hitters from three states and earned the victory at the 18th annual Wiregrass Homerun Derby in Dothan over the weekend. Read more about Lawson's win in the Dothan Eagle article below:

Game schedules, work schedules updated

The CHHS baseball website has been updated today to include schedule changes regarding March 23, and also updated work schedules for parents of Varsity, JV and Freshman teams.

Also, we are requesting that all parents submit their photos to the CHHS website for a photo album. Photos to be submitted must be burned to a CD or on a thumb drive only, no emails please.

Lawson Inks with Central Alabama

Jalin Lawson signed his national letter of intent Wednesday morning to attend Central Alabama Community College in an assembly in Wagoner Hall. The Senior enters his third season with the varsity team and had an outstanding Junior campaign in which he was selected All-State Honorable Mention by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. In 2011 he led the team in doubles (20), home runs (8), runs scored (53), stolen bases (15), and fewest strike outs (8). He batted .449 for the season. He also tied an AHSAA record by hitting three home runs in one contest against Eufaula.
