Thomas Signs with Enterprise Community College

Michael Thomas signed his National Letter of Intent on Friday to play at Enterprise Community College next year. Thomas played varsity baseball for CHHS for three season and spent the majority of that time in the outfield. He led the 2012 team in stolen bases with 11 and had a walk-off triple in the Trojans opening day victory over G.W. Long.

Lawson, Denison Named to ASWA All-State Team, Blackmon Honorable Mention

Senior Jalin Lawson and Junior Joey Denison were named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State team in 5A. Junior Tripp Blackmon was named an Honorable Mention selection to the All-State team.

Lawson, a second baseman who signed a baseball scholarship to Central Alabama Community College, batted .408 during his senior campaign and drove in 44 runs. He led the team in home runs with 8, doubles with 19, and walks with 25. He also compiled a 6-0 record with 2 saves on the mound. He was an Honorable Mention selection to the All-State team during his Junior season. Earlier in the week he was named to the Dothan Eagle Super 12 team.

Denison, a first baseman, led the team with a .421 average and drove in 51 runs on the season. His 34 singles led the team and he also added 7 home runs.  He was named to the Dothan Eagle Super 12 team as an Honorable Mention.

Blackmon, a left handed pitcher, compiled a 7-2 record with a 1.52 ERA in 62 2/3 innings pitched during his Junior season. He also pitched a no hitter against Decatur.

The three players named to the All-State team is the most from CHHS since the 2009 season, when four Trojans (Daniel Hartley, Dario Rouse, K.D. Edenfield, and David Fleming) were named Honorable Mention selections.
