Mitch McLeod was dominant on the mound and with solid defense and timely hitting the Charles Henderson Trojans improved to 22-5 overall and 3-0 in Area 3 play with a 4-0 victory over Carroll Thursday afternoon. McLeod worked a complete game while striking out nine.
The scoring begain in the third for the Trojans when Sophomore Michael Fox knocked a one out single down the left field line. K.D. Edenfield followed with a double off the wall, and Chance Shaver came through with a sharply hit ball to second base to score Fox from third. After Edenfield was thrown out at the plate, Sophomore Jalin Lawson delivered a two run homerun to right field that drove in Shaver. In the fifth inning, Quay Lawson drove home his brother Jalin, who reached on a single, to provide an insurance run for the Trojans. McLeod also added a double for CHHS.
Charles Henderson returns to the field Friday at Carroll for a 4:30 double header. With a victory in game 1 the Trojans would assure themselves of a spot in the playoffs.
