2010 Season Concludes with Banquet

The Trojans brought the 2010 baseball season to an official close with the annual post-season banquet. Each player from the Freshman, JV, and Varsity teams were acknowledged and some individual awards were given out. The JV players voted Luke Tate as the most improved player and Michael Thomas as the teammate of the year. On the varsity it was Blake Hutchinson selected by his teammates as the most improved and Jawara White chosen as the teammate of the year. Team captains, also voted on by the players, were Chance Shaver and Mitch McLeod. Shaver also took home two statistical awards, one for the most hit-by-pitches and the other as the most productive hitter of 2010 due to having the highest quality-at-bat percentage of anyone on the varsity team.

Each member of the senior class also received a gift from the program in appreciation for all of their work for CHHS. The 2010 seniors were K.D. Edenfield, Chance Shaver, Mitch McLeod, Nathan Barron, Joel Agnew, Quay Lawson, and Jawara White. Over their four years of high school, CHHS amassed 131 victories, an average of 33 per season. Their Freshman, Sophomore, and Senior season win totals each set a school record for wins or was second place. They advanced to the 5A finals in 2008 and the semi-finals in 2010.

The 2010 team finished with a team batting average of .324 and ERA of 2.89. They advanced to the semi-finals and accumulated 34 wins along the way. The Trojans finished the regular season 27-8 and ranked #1 in the state by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. In addition to the first #1 ranking in school history, the team also won the Terry Sikes Memorial Tournament and the Area 3 championship.
