CHHS Defeats #4 Rehobeth

In a match-up of top ten teams at Hogan's Hole Thursday night, the #9 Trojans of Charles Henderson were victorious over #4 Rehobeth by a final score of 10-2. The win moved CHHS to 17-4 overall and 3-0 in 5A, area three play. It moved the Trojans' current win streak to eight games, also winning twelve out of the last thirteen. Junior Houston Mabray earned the win working a complete game and striking out two while scattering six hits.

The Rebels struck first in the top of the first inning on a sac fly to take a 1-0 lead. The Trojans responded with four runs in the bottom of the second. Chase Smartt and Tripp Blackmon hit back-to-back singles. Michael Thomas delivered an infield single that scored a run, then Austin Adler hit a single that scored two. Jalin Lawson drew a bases loaded walk later in the inning to score Adler from third. In the fourth, Gregory Barnette delivered a two out solo homerun. He was followed by Michael Fox, who drew a walk and was driven in on a double by Lawson. Rehobeth struck for a run on a solo homerun in the sixth bringing the score to 6-2, but that was as close as the Rebels would get as the Trojans answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Barnette doubled and was driven in by Fox. After an intentional pass to Lawson, Denison hit a three run blast to put the game out of reach.

Barnette finished 2-3 with a double and homerun. Fox and Lawson were each 1-2 with an RBI. Denison was 1-3 with three RBI and Smartt finished 2-4.

Area three play continues Friday with a doubleheader at Rehobeth. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00.
