Trojans Sweep Three Game Set from Eufaula

The Trojans of Charles Henderson began 5A, Area 3 play with a three game sweep of Eufaula. The first two games count towards area standings, bringing CHHS' overall record to 12-4 and 2-0 in the area.

In game one Friday night at CHHS, Houston Mabray went the distance on the mound striking out four to earn the win by a score of 6-1. He did not allow an earned run. At the plate Gregory Barnette, Chase Smartt, and Jalin Lawson all finished 2-3. Joey Denison was 2-2 with an RBI and Tripp Blackmon hit a triple and drove in three.

The series shifted to Eufaula on Saturday, and in the first game of the day Tripp Blackmon picked up the win by working all five innings of the 15-5 contest. Blackmon struck out three and did not allow an earned run. Barnette finished 3-3 with a double and four runs scored. Michael Fox was 2-2 with a double and three RBI. Jalin Lawson was 2-2 with 5 RBI, the big blow coming on a second inning grand slam to break the game open. Austin Adler was 2-3 and Smartt added a double and two RBI.

In the final game CHHS won by a score of 13-5. Lawson pitched all seven innings and struck out five to earn the win. Smartt finished 4-5 offensively, Denison was 2-4 with three RBI, and Blackmon was 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Adler was 2-4 with two RBI.

The Trojans return to action Friday with a doubleheader against Providence Christian at Troy University. The first game begins at 4:30.
