Trojans Sweep Opening Day Double Header

The Charles Henderson Trojans started the season 2-0 with wins over Jackson and G.W. Long in games played at LBW in Andalusia.

In game one the Trojans defeated Jackson by a score of 4-2. Senior Houston Mabray pitched a complete game and struck out four. CHHS scored all of their runs in the sixth inning when Cole Wilson led off with a single that was followed by a Morgan Shaver walk. Hunter Baggett and Tripp Blackmon followed with consecutive hit by pitches and pushed across the games first run. Chase Smartt followed with a 2 RBI single to push the score to 3-0. Joey Denison drove in Blackmon with a single to extend the lead to 4-0. Jackson scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th before Mabray induced a groundout to end the game.

In game two CHHS beat G.W. Long by a score of 6-2. Senior Tripp Blackmon got the start on the mound and pitched four innings striking out one. Xavius Burden entered the game in the top of the 5th in a bases loaded jam and got out of the inning only allowing one run. Trailing 2-1 in the fifth, the Trojans erupted for five runs. Wilson reached base on an error and Shaver reached base on a fielders choice. Baggett singled and Blackmon reached on an error by the second baseman. Chase Smartt tripled home Baggett and Blackmon to give CHHS the lead. After Smartt scored on a wild pitch Denison singled and was followed by an Austin Ingram single. Denison scored from third on a balk to push the lead to 6-2.

The Trojans open their home schedule on Thursday at Hogan's Hole in the first game of the 12th Annual Terry Sikes Memorial Tournament against Providence Christian. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00.
