Trojans Sweep Oak Mountain, Dothan in Doubleheader

Charles Henderson improved it's record to 8-1 on the year with victories over Oak Mountain and Dothan Saturday in Troy.

In game 1, Luke Hastings pitched 6 1/3 and struck out three to earn the 9-5 win. Xavius Burden came on in the 7th inning to close out the game. After Oak Mountain took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, Joey Denison scored on John Johnson's ground ball to third base. Hunter Baggett and Tripp Blackmon both scored in the 3rd inning to give CHHS a 3-1 lead. Burden led off the 4th inning with a walk and was followed by singles from Johnson, Morgan Shaver, and Baggett. Baggett and Shaver both drove in runs, and Baggett came around to score when Denison reached on an error. The Trojans tacked on two more in the 5th when Johnson's triple scored Hastings who led off the inning with a single. Shaver followed with a single that scored Johnson from third. Oak Mountain scored four in the top of the 7th to close the gap to 9-5 before Burden closed out the game.

In game 2, Senior Brantley LeCroy went 5 1/3 strong innings on the mound to get the 1-0 win. Austin Ingram was credited with the save after working 1 2/3 without allowing a baserunner. Ingram entered the 6th in a bases loaded jam but induced a double-play ball to Baggett at short stop to escape the inning. Morgan Shaver was 1-2 on the night with a double and scored Hastings when he reached on an error.

CHHS begins play in the FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial tournament Tuesday against Stanhope-Elmore at Patterson Field in Montgomery.
