Trojans Split with Stanhope-Elmore

CHHS dropped game one to Stanhope-Elmore by a score of 7-5 before bouncing back to win the nightcap by the same score. Houston Mabray took the loss in game one, working 4 1/3 innings and striking out two while allowing one earned run. Michael Fox and Jalin Lawson both homered; Fox with a solo shot in the third inning and Lawson with a two run blast in the sixth. Fox finished 3-4 with two RBI, Lawson was 2-4 with two RBI. Michael Thomas, Joey Denison, Greg Barnette, Chase Smartt, and Tripp Blackmon each added singles.

The Trojans rebounded in game two winning 7-5. Tripp Blackmon was credited with his second victory of the year after working six innings and striking out three. CHHS took a lead they would not relinquish in the bottom of the sixth with a four run inning. Luke Hastings reached on an error and was followed by an Austin Adler double that made the score 5-4. Fox followed with an RBI single to tie the game at 5. Two batters later Joey Denison hit a double that scored Fox and Lawson. Fox was 2-4 with a triple and three RBI.

The Trojans return to action in the Terry Sikes Memorial Tournament at CHHS on Thursday. Their first opponent is Dora at 6:00.
