Late Inning Rally Leads to CHHS Road Win

The Trojans won their first road game of the season in dramatic fashion by scoring three runs in the seventh inning to defeat Enterprise 5-4. The Trojans entered the seventh trailing 4-2 when Tyler Dansby led off with a hit by pitch and was followed by a Gregory Barnette single. Tripp Blackmon reached on a bunt single to load the bases. Dansby scored from third on a wild pitch and Jalin Lawson reached on a walk. Chase Connell tied the game with an RBI single and Joey Denison scored Blackmon on a sacrifice fly to centerfield to give CHHS the winning 5-4 margin. Connell finished 3-4 with a double and two RBI while Chase Smartt had two hits and an RBI.

The pitching of Tripp Blackmon and Michael Fox kept the Trojans within striking distance for the late inning comeback. Fox was credited with the win working three innings of relief and allowing only one hit and no earned runs. He struck out five. Blackmon went four innings and struckout three while allowing no earned runs.

CHHS hits the road again Saturday for a doubleheader against Hillcrest and Stanhope-Elmore at Stanhope-Elmore beginning at 1:00.
